"Olga's world is expanding. With the launch of her label 219
Records, together with friend and partner Tyler Austin, she's poised
to fry some bigger fish. First up for 219 Records is the January 2003
release of Olga's Blues Babe album. Of the fifteen tracks, fourteen
are Olga originals and each showcases her arresting vocals and tuned-down
hollow-body Washburn. 219's next release is a benefit album for blues
legend Jessie Mae Hemphill, who is also mentor to Olga. The album
features Jessie Mae serenading a host of special guests through a
collection of spirituals and is slated for a fall 2003 release. 219
Records, looking to expand its artist roster in addition to independent
releases, will present Olga's second record in early 2004. In short,
the fledgling label has its fingers in all sorts of pies for 2003,
the "Year of the Blues."
